The Pitara Network has succeeded in creating a fairly pervasive presence in the life of SEC-A families - children, their parents (primarily mothers) and schools (peers and teachers) are connected to one or the other Pitara initiative, be it the flagship site www.pitara.com or the parenting site www.nurturee.com.

Currently, Pitara's network of sites has over 150,000 unique visitors spread across this spectrum of children and their parents/teachers who voluntarily sought out and visited one or the other Pitara property. These visitors, along with our loyal band of students, teachers and parents who have bookmarked Pitara since its inception, make up Pitara's over 1.5 million page views.

To most marketing organisations targeting pre-teen children and their families bracketed in the SEC-A category, this offers an opportunity to build sustained communication, in an appropriate environment - yet be cost effective. All our numbers and claims are verifiable - we use an independent third party monitoring software (based in the USA) and all our advertisers and sponsors get access to detailed reports of activity

The User Profile:
Sixty per cent of our visitors are children; the rest are adults (parents/teachers). It is also possible to discern interesting patterns of visits to our sites, with several permutations of age groups. There are broadly four levels at which visitors to any of the five sites interact with our web network:

  • A child under six who visits a site with her/his parents - primarily the mother.
  • A child between seven and 13 who surfs on her/his own.
  • Parents (primarily the mother).
  • Teachers, browsing the Net in search of classroom learning resources.
  • While Pitara offers an opportunity for marketing organisations to build bridges with our community of users, we feel passionately about the kind of products and messages that may be placed before our visitors, most of whom are children. We feel personally responsible for the advertising messages on our site and thus retain the right to refuse certain products or ads, if we believe them to be exploitative, dishonest, or not in tune with our editorial leanings.
